Position: Kennel Technician
Classification: non-exempt, part time

Summary

• Assist in the performance of the daily kennel and/or cattery routines.
• Perform daily sanitation of the kennels and cattery areas according to HSSCM policies and procedures.
• Ensure all animals are cared for regarding food, water, daily exercise and appropriate living conditions.
• Monitor and maintain the health of all animals.
• Carry out implemented behavior and kennel enrichment programs.

Knowledge/Skill Qualifications:

A genuine interest in animals and their well-being. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Working Environment

Possible exposure to infectious organisms, animal waste, allergens, chemical materials requiring OSHA Material Safety Data Sheets and potential hostile persons and/or vicious animals.

Schedule (Subject to Change)

Must be available to work hours from 8:00am to 6:00pm; must be available to work weekends and holidays.  

Other Requirements :  A valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation is required. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for 100 feet; bend and reach; control large dogs on a leash; work in an environment with daily changes in climate.
